Release Date: July 24, 2026
Right Click Tools Version 5.12.2607.2401 includes new features for Right Click Tools Patching, Insights, Privileged Access, Recast Management Server, and Right Click Tools Enterprise & Community. This release also includes a number of bug fixes.
You can find instructions for installing this version in our articles on updating Right Click Tools, Insights, Privileged Access, and Patching.
New Features
Right Click Tools Patching
Run Intune Deployment Processes in Update Mode
This highly-requested feature makes it easier to maintain the security and compliance of Intune-managed devices. As an admin, you can now target broader groups and consolidate multiple deployment processes while RCT Patching requirement rules ensure that updates only install on devices that need a newer version. For details, see Create a Software Update Process for Intune.
Add Custom Text to an Application Name
You can now include custom text in the information displayed as an application name. Previously, the application name format could only include pre-defined fields. See Application Information.
Recast Management Server
Enroll Recast Agents over an Agent Gateway
You can now enroll Recast Agents via Agent Gateway, meaning that you can register devices with Recast Agent installed without the need for direct line of sight to your self-hosted Recast Management Server. This feature resolves a significant challenge for remote or internet-based devices.
This method of enrolling Recast Agents, which also works for Recast Proxies and Recast Agent Gateways, requires the use of enrollment keys, which allow for secure authentication without relying on same-domain trust or manual approval in RMS.
Learn more about registering Agents, Proxies, and Agent Gateways with RMS using enrollment keys.
NOTE: The existing Recast Agent/Proxy/Agent Gateway enrollment method, which requires a connection to your Recast Management Server, will continue to function as usual. You can switch to enrolling these Recast components via Agent Gateway whenever it suits.
Run Microsoft Graph Actions over an Internal Recast Proxy Route
The new Internal Microsoft Graph route removes the need to set up a separate proxy for Graph-specific actions.
NOTE: If you have an existing Recast Proxy route set up, your Patching deployments will continue to function without disruption. You can switch to using the Internal Microsoft Graph route at any time.
Username and Quick Links on the Recast Management Server Homepage
In the upper right-hand corner of our redesigned RMS homepage, you'll now see the name of the user who is currently signed in. Open the drop-down menu for quick links to the Recast Help Center, the Recast Ideas Portal, and the Recast Support page, or to sign out of your Recast Management Server.

Right Click Tools Enterprise & Community
New Remote Tool: Remote File Explorer (Preview)
You can now browse and manage files securely on remote devices even where direct network connectivity, permissions, or tooling limitations prevent reliable access. The Remote File Explorer works best when used with the Recast Agent component in Right Click Tools Enterprise. This feature requires an update to browser extension version 3.2.0.0. For more information, see Remote File Explorer (Preview).
Limitations
- In Right Click Tools Community, expect the RCT Remote File Explorer to have the same direct network connectivity limitations as the equivalent feature in Microsoft Windows.
- Remote Tools are not available to customers with Right Click Tools Enterprise Legacy licensing.
Recast Remote Tools
The Remote File Explorer is the first in a series of new Recast Remote Tools designed to address network and authentication challenges experienced primarily by our customers with cloud-only endpoints.
Remote Registry, Remote PowerShell, and Remote Event Viewer features are on the way.
We welcome feedback about the Remote File Explorer (Preview) and future Remote Tools on the Recast Ideas Portal.
Right Click Tools Insights
Rate Limiting on Device Inventory Requests
We've implemented rate limiting on the HTTP connections needed to request inventory information for Agent-based devices. Rate limiting concurrent connections helps ensure that the SQL server isn't overloaded when many Agents attempt to send inventory data at the same time.
Right Click Tools Privileged Access
Refresh Recast Agent Settings
You can manually trigger a settings refresh for a specified Recast Agent instead of waiting up to an hour for Agent settings to refresh automatically. For details, see Refresh Agent Settings.
Improved Privileged Access Performance
Privileged Access now resolves membership information using existing Recast Management Server data rather than live directory queries that require Proxy requests. The result is a significant performance improvement in environments that include on‑premises AD–joined devices.
NOTE: Customers can also change the default client settings behavior so that hybrid joined devices will not perform Entra ID Proxy calls when identifying device settings. See Edit Client Settings.
For teams looking to reduce self-hosted infrastructure, Recast Cloud offers a Right Click Tools Enterprise experience where we host the cloud-based servers, ensure infrastructure security, and take care of software version updates.Recast Cloud Now Available as an Advanced Preview

Bug Fixes
Right Click Tools
Schedule Shutdown/Restart: You can now enter a date and time without a 'Failed to parse start date and time' error. (Customer-Reported Bug 86575)
SQL Database Connection: Right Click Tools can now connect to the RecastManagementServer database without returning errors. (Customer-Reported Bug 85771)
Right Click Tools Browser Extension: The Recast icon now appears as expected when viewing Intune's new single device details page.
Patching
Application Import:
- Attempting to reimport applications into Intune no longer causes RCT Patching to return an error or remove the application from Intune. (Customer-Reported Bug 82932)
- Application imports that run longer than the 12-minute timeout period no longer produce indefinitely repeating reimports.
- A failed application import correctly displays an Error or Warning status.
Deployment Processes:
- The Deployment Processes page now displays the Date Processed in the appropriate date format for regions outside the United States. (Customer-Reported Bug 70956)
- The option to run all or pause all deployments no longer appears when the list of deployment processes is empty.
- The total deployment process duration on the Gantt chart updates properly after removing deployment steps.
- When editing User Experience settings, the 'Save & Close' button is available.
- When deleting an email template, you are first asked to confirm the deletion.
- When selecting applications for a deployment process, duplicate entries no longer appear when the table is sorted according to both the vendor and application names.
Environment: When returning to the Select Environment step, the previously selected environment now displays as expected.
Inheritance Settings: The Inheritance side panel now displays the correct titles for settings.
Applications: When selecting applications for a deployment process, you'll no longer see duplicate entries when the table is sorted according to both the vendor and application names.
Environment: the previously selected environment is not shown when the user goes back to the first step Select Environment - the environment is still selected but not shown.
Privileged Access
Right Click Tools Performance: A new randomized polling interval window distributes Privileged Access settings checks more evenly over time and significantly reduces load spikes on Recast Management Server and Recast Proxy components. (Customer-Reported Bug 84848)
Database Cleanup: Privileged Access now removes duplicate rows within database tables that contain more than a million rows. This database cleanup aims to prevent the Recast Management Server upgrade issues that can happen when large database loads produce timeouts.
Recast Agents: Agents now respect settings configured for the client.
Known Issues
Insights Device Inventory Data Delay
To improve RMS database performance, we've completed a schema update. This schema update will clear inventory data for devices already in the database, meaning that after you upgrade your Recast Management Server to this software version, devices will only display the details available on the General tab until the device inventory runs again, which occurs once every 24 hours.
Task Schedule Randomness
Upgrading to this version will cause task schedules to be re-assigned to a random time between 10pm and 3am. For assistance resetting your task schedules back to specific times, contact Recast Support.
You may also notice
Updated Recast Branding
You'll see an updated Recast icon, styling and colors in Right Click Tools Patching, Privileged Access, and the RCT Browser Extension. Those same changes also now appear across portal login and logout pages, portal emails, and the password reset success page.
Changes to Scheduled Tasks for Kiosks
The Kiosk Management Scheduled Tasks and Scheduled Tasks Results tools no longer appear under Kiosk Profiles. New visibility into scheduled tasks for kiosks will be added to a future release. In the meantime, we suggest using the Applied Profile Status tool for information about profiles applied to devices or a device collection.
