Features
Right Click Tools Enterprise & Community
New Tool! Remote Event Viewer
Browse, filter, search, and analyze Windows Event Log data from remote devices without direct network connectivity to the endpoint. The Remote Event Viewer works best when used with Right Click Tools Enterprise and Recast Agent. For details, see Remote Event Viewer.
NOTES:
- In the Community edition, as well as in Right Click Tools Enterprise Standalone, the RCT Remote Event Viewer exhibits the same direct network connectivity limitations as the native Windows Event Viewer.
- Remote Tools are not available to customers with Right Click Tools Enterprise Legacy licensing.
Recast Remote Tools
Recast's new Remote Tools provide Recast Agent-enabled versions of common Windows management tools so administrators can diagnose and troubleshoot devices without direct network connectivity.
The Recast Remote Event Viewer joins Remote File Explorer and Remote Registry in this series.
Faster Remote Registry Device Loading
Remote File Explorer Type-to-Select Navigation
Quickly navigate files and folders using Remote File Explorer by typing the first letter of the item you want to select.
Right Click Tools for Intune Browser Extension
Customize the Actions You Enable by Policy
Choose the RCT actions that are visible and enabled in the Browser Extension to create pared-down menus that only display the tools that are allowed and relevant in your environment. For steps, see Choose Enabled Right Click Tools by Policy.
Right Click Tools Insights
See the Status of Windows Updates
Collect Windows Update inventory data to see which updates are currently installed, and which need to be deployed. You can also view histories of Windows and Windows Defender updates, as well as status information about the Windows Update Agent.
New Windows Update Inventory Classes:
- RI_WindowsUpdates - Shows installed update and updates needed by the Windows update agent
- RI_WindowsUpdateHistory - Shows a history of Windows Update installation attempts on the device
- RI_WindowsDefenderUpdateHistory - Similar to the Update History; Defender updates are listed separately and disabled by default
- RI_WindowsUpdateAgentStatus - Shows details about the status and health of the Windows Update Agent
For more detail, see the Recast Insights (RI) section of Inventory Class Data for Agent-Based Devices.
Extend Inventory Data Collection with Custom Classes
Define and collect data from available WMI classes, then use custom inventory class data as you would Recast's default inventory classes. See View and Edit Collected Inventory Classes.
Build Power BI Reports from Insights Inventory Data
Connect Microsoft Power BI's reporting and analytics capabilities to Right Click Tools Insights using a supported OData API. Then create your own custom dashboards, reports, and data integrations without the need for custom scripting or direct database access. For details see, OData Discoverability for Power BI.
Right Click Tools Patching
Deploy macOS applications in Intune environments
As requested in the Recast Ideas Portal, you can now include macOS x64 and macOS ARM applications in Intune deployment processes. To learn more, see Add an Application to a Deployment Process.
Current Limitations:
- You cannot include macOS applications when running Intune Deployment Processes in Update mode.
- When the Deployment Type is 'Available', rather than 'Required', you can target user groups but not device groups.
- If you attempt to deploy macOS applications to Intune using the built-in All Devices group, the application import will fail. Intune will still create the application but it will not be assigned until you choose another group.
Include Legacy CSM Applications in an Update Process
Update the applications created by your Centero Software Manager, Legacy Application Manager, and RCT Patching Standard deployment processes.
Additional Patching changes you may notice:
- In the Select Applications side panel, the Vendor column now precedes the Application column. The updated order aligns with how the same data is presented elsewhere.
- Email templates displays "as soon as possible" as an option when the deployment is scheduled, eliminating confusion related to a scheduled date that appeared to be one day in the past.
Recast Infrastructure
Microsoft .NET Upgrade
We've upgraded all Recast applications and components to use Microsoft .NET 10. This update takes advantage of performance improvements and better memory management in .NET 10 while preventing potential security issues linked to .NET 8's end of support.
When you install Recast Software Version 5.13.2610, the Recast Management Server will automatically install .NET 10 via the installer and the ASP.NET hosting bundle, if it is not already present on your system. Earlier versions of .NET are no longer required for Recast applications.
Bug Fixes
Right Click Tools Enterprise & Community
Configuration Manager 2609 Compatibility: Right Click Tools now supports the Microsoft ConfigMgr 2609 console, preventing console crashes and greyed out tools. (Customer-Reported Bug 93108)
BitLocker Recovery Keys: Customer-facing documentation accurately reflects required Application permissions, allowing retrieval of recovery keys from Entra ID. (Customer-Reported Bug 92570)
Entra ID Security Groups: The tool now removes users from groups successfully.
Community Edition: Set Autopilot Group Tag, Remove Devices from Autopilot, and Delete Devices from Azure (Entra/Intune) actions now run without an 'Insufficient Permissions' error. This item fixes a Known Issue in RCT v5.12.2609.
Console Extension & Recast Agent Installers: Installer signing issues no longer cause Microsoft Defender to block installations.
Recast Management Server
Recast Proxy:
- A proxy no longer shows as deleted when the deletion operation fails. (Customer-Reported Bug 85740)
- When attempting to delete a proxy that has routes or service connections tied to it, an informational message appears with suggested steps.
Remote Registry: The type-to-select feature now recognizes all supported characters and works correctly after sorting results.
Right Click Tools Insights
Inventory Classes: When applying the default inventory policy, disabled classes now appear correctly as disabled.
Right Click Tools Patching
Email Notifications: Emails send correctly when deployments target the Intune 'All Users' group. (Customer-Reported Bug 91450)
Application Import: Patching now enforces the 15-minute minimum install time to prevent application corruption. (Customer-Reported Bug 88516)
Application Selection: Deployment and update processes correctly display unfiltered application lists for Right Click Tools Patching versions older than September 2026.
Right Click Tools Privileged Access
Settings: Privileged Access now preserves the last settings update timestamp when the Recast Agent starts. To manually refresh settings, locate and delete the registry value that stores the previous settings update execution time. Restart the Agent service.
