Active Directory (AD)
Active Directory is a directory service developed by Microsoft for Windows that enables administrators to manage permissions and access to network resources.
Agent
A Windows service that runs as the local system. Designed to be installed on every device within an organization. Recast Agent enables actions to be run on computers in untrusted domains, on computers that the user does not have administrator permissions to, and on computers that have more restrictive firewall rules in place. Recast Agent is used to collect Endpoint Insights inventory data from the device, and provides end users with a way to self-elevate credentials when using Privilege Manager.
Agent Gateway
A Recast Agent Gateway is an on-premises component that connects your Recast Management Server to your Recast Agents. An Agent Gateway is a secure communications path for Agent authentication and authorization, Agent licensing, directing Recast actions to Agents, extending Agent connectivity to the Internet, and connecting Agents with other Recast components.

The Recast Console Extension is installed as a plugin to Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager and allows access to Recast actions. This component can be connected to Recast Management Server or operate in Standalone mode.
Recast Portal
The web interface that customers interact with to download Recast applications, components, and licenses. Located at https://auth.recastsoftware.com.

RMS
The central component in the Recast on-premises infrastructure. It is an ASP.NET Core, IIS hosted website that manages licensing, auditing, authentication and authorization for all other Recast components. The Recast Management Server web interface lets users monitor and configure Recast Software features.
Role-based administration (RBA)
Role-based administration allows permissions to be granted or limited according to defined user roles.
SCCM
System Center Configuration Manager. Known more recently as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) and even more recently as Microsoft Configuration Manager (MCM).
Scope
A Recast Scope limits permissions to a subset of devices or users. Examples: Limit a user's ability to run Recast actions to a device collection or an Active Directory OU; Limit a route to objects within the scope, such as a Recast Proxy or Fast Channel
Service Connection
Allows Recast Software infrastructure to query information from Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), or Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring (MBAM).
Site Code
A three-digit alpha-numeric code used to identify and manage the sites in a Configuration Manager hierarchy.
