Create a Software Update Process for Intune

When adding an Intune software update process, you can target broader Intune groups. RCT Patching will then determine the devices in need of a newer application version before executing the updates.

The option to run an Intune deployment process in update mode is only available when a previous version of the application already exists on the device.

If you attempt to update a high number of applications, you may run up against Intune limitations that are known to produce performance issues.

To create a software update process for Intune:

1. On the RCT Patching Deployment Processes page, click Add Deployment Process.

2. In the Select Environment side panel that opens, choose an Intune environment that is listed as 'Ready'.

3. Toggle Create as update process to 'Yes'. Click Next.

4. Search for and select applications to deploy with this update process. Click Next.

5. Name the deployment process. Click Next.

6. Set the New Version Available event to 'Active' to have the update process run when a new application version becomes available. You can also schedule the deployment process.

7. Search for and select the Intune group to which you'll deploy the chosen applications.

TIP: For an Intune update process, you can also choose the All Devices or All Users built-in groups in the Add group side panel.

8. Click Save & Close.

All applications included in the update process, and the update process itself, are identified with an 'Update' prefix.

9. On the Deployment Process Details page, you can then:
