Does Right Click Tools or Recast Management Server use cause a substantial increase in network traffic between the main Configuration Manager server and the clients?
When no Right Click Tools actions are running, you should see no increase in network traffic. When Right Click Tools actions are run, there may be increased network traffic between the server and clients—which varies according to the tool and the number of endpoints it is run against—but the increase should not be noticeable or substantial.
Setting up and running Recast Management Server in your environment should not cause a significant increase in network traffic.
Does Right Click Tools and/or Recast Management Server usage cause an increase in resource utilization (CPU/RAM) on the main ConfigMgr server or clients?
The impact on client resources varies by the Right Click Tools action being run. Overall, the impact should be minimal, and unnoticeable to the end user, especially when actions are run on modern endpoints with up-to-date hardware.
The Recast Management Server can be installed on the primary ConfigMgr server or on its own server. If you are concerned about resource utilization on your primary ConfigMgr server, we recommend installing RMS on a separate server.
What impacts on resource use can we expect to see on endpoints from Recast Agents?
Recast Agents use minimal resources when used for Right Click Tools or Endpoint Insights. During internal testing, the following resource use was noted:
- Recast Agent connected to RMS when idle: 0% CPU and 45 MB
- Recast Agent connected to RMS when running an action: 3% CPU and 85 MB
- Recast Agent when used for Endpoint Insights standalone: 0% CPU and 45 MB
Do the Right Click Tools have support for Azure- or Intune-managed devices?
The Right Click Tools browser extension currently supports a limited toolset for Microsoft Entra hybrid joined devices and Entra joined devices. Future releases will expand the number of actions that can be run on devices managed from within the Microsoft Intune Admin Center and other interfaces. In Kiosk Manager, how is the Autologin user stored?
The Autologin uses the LSA Secure Store for the password and the registry for the username. This means that the password is encrypted, but because we do need to decrypt the password to use it, we would recommend that the autologin user not be a highly privileged account in your domain environment.
Does the Software Update Deployment Status dashboard work with third-party updates?
If your updates have been synced with ConfigMgr, the SUDS dashboard will show compliance with third-party updates. If you are using a third-party updater that uses its own mechanism to deploy updates, it will not work with SUDS.
Can the Recast Management Server reside on one of my ConfigMgr Servers?
Yes, it can. We have designed the Recast Management Server so that it can co-exist on one of your Configuration Manager servers.
Do the Right Click Tools update automatically?
Currently the components that make up Right Click Tools (the Tools themselves, Recast Proxy, Recast Agent, and Recast Management Server) need to be updated manually. By default, your Configuration Manager console will display a notification whenever there is a new software version that includes both features and bug fixes. You can also enable update notifications for releases that include only bug fixes.
Can I use Right Click Tools if my Configuration Manager console is hosted by Citrix?
Yes, Right Click Tools will work in deployments where the Configuration Manager console is accessed through a Citrix environment. Right Click Tools needs to be installed in the location to which the ConfigMgr console points.
