Customize Enabled Tools by Policy

You can use policy settings to customize the Right Click Tools actions that are visible and available via the Browser Extension. Once configured, your Right Click Tools menus will reflect only the RCT actions that are allowed by policy in your environment.

Minimum Browser Extension version: 3.5.0.0

Choose Actions to Enable

To customize the available actions:

1. Right-click on the Recast icon in your browser toolbar and select Policy Builder from the drop-down.

On the Policy Builder page that opens, you will see the specific Registry key for your browser:

  • Chrome - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome\3rdparty\extensions\gfbiiepahoibecndlolalkhkcpfdddjk\policy
  • Edge - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge\3rdparty\extensions\hdlmknneafgigmdleldiicnkgkcgdlfl\policy

2. Enable the desired actions for your policy.

3. Click Generate ID List to compile a list of Tool IDs for the selected actions.

4. Click Copy to Clipboard to copy the list for use in policy configuration.

Configure the Policy

Use your organization’s method to deploy the generated ID list to managed endpoints. You can use Microsoft Intune, Group Policy, Configuration Manager, scripts, or other deployment tools.

The Registry values to set are ServerUri and EnabledActionIds.

Once applied, Right Click Tools will automatically recognize and enforce the policy.

Trigger a Policy Update (optional)

Your browser's policies will update automatically, but you can also choose to manually trigger an update by opening edge://policy or chrome://policy and clicking Reload Policies.

Check Policy Application

To check that the policy is applied:

1. Open the Browser Extension's Right Click Tools Configuration window by clicking on the Recast icon in your browser toolbar followed by the Configure button.

2. Confirm that the policy-managed configuration appears.

When policy management is active, users see a message similar to the following:

This instance of Recast Right Click Tools for Intune is being managed by policy. Currently, 10 of 83 actions are enabled. Please reach out to your administrator to request additional actions.
