Adobe Acrobat Reader DC

Installation Packages (MSI/MSP)

The Application Workspace Setup Store typically provides Adobe installation media as a two components: a base installer package (.MSI) and an update package (.MSP).

While Adobe’s auto-updating (Continuous track model) is now the default for most environments — and it may not require separate MSP deployment depending on update policy — the MSI + MSP deployment approach (Classic track model) remains valid for controlled enterprise environments, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), and environments with strict update governance.

To learn more about the difference between Classic and Continuous tracks see Document Cloud Product Tracks — Deployment Planning and Configuration | Adobe.

Supported Architectures

  • 64-bit Windows (recommended)
  • 32-bit applications on 64-bit OS: Supported, although Adobe now provides native 64-bit builds

NOTE: Adobe Reader/Acrobat releases no longer support 32-bit systems.

Multilingual (MUI) Installers

Multilingual User Interface (MUI) installers are also available from the Application Workspace Setup Store, allowing a single package to support multiple languages.

For more information, see Language Configuration — Deployment Planning and Configuration | Adobe.

Configuration for Shared Environments (VDI / RDS)

When deploying Adobe Acrobat Reader in shared environments such as Remote Desktop Services (RDS), Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), or Citrix environments, we recommend restricting features that can impact system stability, user-initiated repair or maintenance options.

You can configure constraints using the Adobe Customization Wizard, as it allows for feature lockdown, menu customization, update behaviour control, and security hardening.
