Configuring Right Click Tools to use the ConfigMgr and MBAM Databases

The Right Click Tools Dashboards require access to specific portions of your enterprise environment that are controlled outside of Right Click Tools. For example, the Hardware and Firmware Audit Dashboard reads from the ConfigMgr database to populate its information. Enabling this requires that information about the ConfigMgr database be entered into Right Click Tools, and also requires permissions on the databases themselves.

Configuring Database Information in Right Click Tools Standalone

To enter the ConfigMgr and MBAM Databases in standalone Right Click Tools, you should open the Configure Recast RCT application. When the application opens it will look like this.

Configure Recast RCT

On the SQL Configuration tab of that application you should enter the following information:

  • SQL Server = the FQDN of the Server that hosts the SQL database for ConfigMgr
  • SQL Database = the name of the database hosted on the above server (usually CM_Three letter site code)

If you have MBAM in your environment you would want to also fill out the bottom Section:

  • MBAM Administration URI = The Administration URI for your MBAM server, the address is usually correct after the FQDN is entered unless it was changed at the time of installation
  • SQL Server = The FQDN of the server that hosts the SQL Database for MBAM
  • MBAM Recovery and Hardware Database = The name of the MBAM Recovery and Hardware Database (default name is entered)
  • MBAM Compliance Status DB = The name of the MBAM Compliance Status Database (default name is entered)

Configuring Database Information in Right Click Tools with Recast Management Server

If you have a Recast Management Server in your environment, you will enter the information for the Config and MBAM Databases in the Recast Management Server "Settings" Section.

The ConfigMgr information is entered under the ConfigMgrServer section of the settings:

ConfigMgr SQL settings

  • SQL Server = the FQDN of the Server that hosts the SQL database for ConfigMgr
  • SQL Database = the name of the database hosted on the above server (usually CM_Three letter site code)

The MBAM Database information is entered in the MBAM section of settings:

MBAM SQL Settings

  • MBAM Administration URI = The Administration URI for your MBAM server, the address is usually correct after the FQDN is entered unless it was changed at the time of installation
  • SQL Server = The FQDN of the server that hosts the SQL Database for MBAM
  • MBAM Recovery and Hardware Database = The name of the MBAM Recovery and Hardware Database (default name is entered)
  • MBAM Compliance Status DB = The name of the MBAM Compliance Status Database (default name is entered)

Once these settings are in place, you will also want to make sure that you have permissions on those specific databases.
