The SQL database can be moved to a new instance by following these instructions:
- Stop all related (Recast Agent Gateway and management portal) websites from the IIS server to ensure that the database data is not modified
- Move or copy the database to new SQL instance. You can use any supported method to move or copy SQL databases like backup/restore, detach/attach etc. Make sure that same login permissions are available on the new instance. By default, login permissions are required for the Active Directory computer object for the server where Privilege Manager websites are installed, but this can be also SQL login or some other Active Directory user account. You can find the current authentication method from the web.config files connection strings mentioned in step 3
- On IIS server, modify ConnectionString setting in web.config files in Recast Agent Gateway and Privilege Manager Portal websites to have the new SQL instance
- On IIS server, modify SQL Connection registry value in
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Centero\Agent\Modules\Carillon
to the new SQL instance.- Example value for Azure SQL connection
Server=tcp:name.database.windows.net,1433;Initial Catalog=PrivilegeManager;Persist Security Info=False;User ID=PMAdmin;Password=123456789;MultipleActiveResultSets=False;Encrypt=True;TrustServerCertificate=False;Connection Timeout=30;
- Restart Agent Gateway and Management Portal IIS sites
