The Add Device(s) to Collection tool adds single or multi-selected devices to a specified Device Collection in a drop down list. Options are available for searching based on name rather than ResourceID.
How it does it
This tool completes this action by making a WMI API call to the SMS provider to complete the action.
Navigation
Navigate to the Add Device(s) to Collection tool by right clicking on a Device Object, selecting Recast RCT, and selecting Add Device(s) to Collection.
The Add Device(s) to Collection tool can be run on single devices, > multi-selected devices, or with a similar tool designed to be run on a device collection object itself.

When the action is run, the following dialog box will open:
Upon running of the tool with the Start button, a progress window will appear and organize devices into successful and unsuccessful categories until the operation is complete, with progress messages at the bottom. Options are available to re-run the action or close the tool as well.

Microsoft Permissions
- This action requires that the user running the tools has sufficient ConfigMgr permissions to add the device to the collection.
- If a Recast Server is being used with a Service Account, that account also needs these permissions.
Configuration
The "Match on name instead of ResourceID" checkbox will query ConfigMgr for the Resource ID that matches the computer name. This is useful when launched from tools that may not have the Resource ID available (such as the LAPS or BitLocker Compliance tools).
