Right Click Tools

Encrypted Password Support for Windows LAPS 

AD LAPS Password & Set LAPS Password Expiration tools now work with the new Windows LAPS feature, as well as legacy Microsoft LAPS, for encrypted passwords. Both tools also now display the local admin account name when using Windows LAPS.

New Recast Builder Action

Download and Install Select Updates action: This action allows you to download and install selected missing software updates on a comanaged device.

Application Manager for MECM

Supercedence Relationship Removal for Non-existing Applications

Supersedence relationships for non-existing applications are removed weekly. This feature only affects applications created by Application Manager where Retired cleanup is set to 'Remove retired applications and media'.

Application Revision Cleanup

Application revisions are removed from Configuration Manager before distributing content to a distribution point group. This improvement prevents potential performance issues when Revision cleanup is set to 'True' and the application has dependencies.

  • Fixes inconsistent license validation messages in Recast Agent logs. (Customer-Reported Bug 12207)
  • Fixes Agent and Gateway reconnection issues after connection failure.
  • Fixes an inaccurate Agent connectivity state after Agent Gateway or Recast Management Server restart.

Audit Log: Adds monthly scheduled tasks to clean up logs and snapshots.

  • Fixes date and time errors when attempting to load applications on devices. (Customer-Reported Bug 6244)
  • Adds missing user-deployed applications on the Applications tab. (Customer-Reported Bug 9759)
  • Restores the full list of applications for workgroup devices. (Customer-Reported Bug 8177)
  • Clarifies console error messaging when SQL access to the ConfigMgr database must be configured.
  • Adds missing results upon Remote Software Center refresh.

Configuration Manager Console: Restores missing Right Click Tools actions when selecting required devices within a software update. (Customer-Reported Bug 11829)

AD LAPS Password: Fixes a 'Value cannot be null' error. (Customer-Reported Bug 12697)

Device Status Messages: Adds missing status messages from workstations. (Customer-Reported Bug 9485)

User Devices: Fixes a 'Call cancelled' error when attempting to return a large set of user devices.

System Information: Adds a missing audit log message when deleting a user profile.

  • Fixes a 'Failed to find account' error when attempting to delete devices from Active Directory. (Customer-Reported Bug 12684)
  • Fixes timeout errors when running some actions from Configuration Manager.

Hardware and Firmware Audit: Fixes missing results when attempting to run a scan that includes all collections.

Software Updates Deployment Status (SUDS): Fixes slow result return when collections are chosen.

Web and Console Dashboards: Fixes inconsistent results when running multiple scans with the same parameters.

Console Dashboards: Resizes Endpoint Insights, Kiosk Manager and Right Click Tools icons in dashboard menus.

  • Fixes link function when trying to open reports from the Endpoint Insights node. (Customer-Reported Bug 9060)

Integration Client: Fixes an issue when the Deploy purpose is set to 'Available with forced upgrade' on device collections.

  • Fixes an error where the Collection is pre-selected, the Software Update List is not, and the reverse should be true.

Count of Computers Missing Software Updates by Classification

  • Updates 'Total Number of Computers' text to 'Total Number of Software Updates on All Computers' for improved clarity. (Customer-Reported Bug 10535)
  • Removes the requirement to select a prompt when drilling down to this report.
  • Removes a duplicate collection listing in the report footer.

List of Computers With a Particular Software Update

  • Fixes non-RBA (Role-Based Administration) reports that were using RBA functions and producing inconsistent results. (Customer-Reported Bug 9396)
  • Fixes missing results when the Article ID is set to 'n/a' on the Count of Computers Missing Software Updates by Classification report. (Customer-Reported Bug 9397)
  • Removes the requirement to select a prompt when drilling down to this report.

Comparison of Installed Software: Fixes inaccurate results when filtering by 'Find Computers Containing'. (Customer-Reported Bug 4078)

Patch Compliance Progression by Collection: Fixes inaccurate results when filtering by the Software Update Group. (Customer-Reported Bug 9395)

Count of Computers by Warranty Range, Count of Computers by Age: For a DSC of 100 or more, replaces an inaccurate error message with a 'Waiting for Validation' notification. (Customer-Reported Bug 10133)

List of Computers by Latest Software Update: Fixes a Collection ID error when attempting to run the report.

Component Health States by Site: Fixes column header formatting.

Privilege Manager

Installer: Fixes Recast Management Server installation and update issues for Recast Software customers licensed for Privilege Manager only. (Customer-Reported Bug 11922)

Default Groups: Adds missing Network Configuration Operators, Remote Desktop Users and Power Users groups that should appear by default.

Group/User/Self-Service Rules: Fixes rules not being applied to target devices.

Self-Service: Fixes an error when attempting to elevate privileges for local users if the Target type is an OU or domain.

  • Fixes a loading error on the Status page. (Customer-Reported Bug 11672)

Privilege Manager 

Pre-set Reason Categories for Privilege Elevation

As a Privilege Manager administrator, you can now require end users, and those generating activation codes for end users, to choose a reason for requesting temporary privilege elevation from a list of pre-set categories. Selectable reason categories reduce data entry inconsistencies and offer easier sorting and filtering on Privilege Manager reports. Reporting Improvements

  • Activation Type: The Agents page and Activation Codes report now display an Activation Type that differentiates elevation by 'activation code' and 'self-service'.
  • Domain: The Agents page, Activation Codes report, and Retrieved Passwords report now display domain information for a specific agent. Agents can also be sorted by domain.

Right Click Tools

New Recast Builder Actions: Given a Resource ID or a Collection ID, these Builder actions return the set of workloads that are being comanaged in Configuration Manager and Intune. To learn more, see Recently Added Recast Builder Actions.

Endpoint Insights

FIPS Compliance Compatibility: Endpoint Insights can now be installed in environments where FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) compliance is required.

Recast Management Server

Recast Agent Performance Improvements: We've greatly improved the speed at which the Agent service connects after an Agent restart. A connection that previously took up to a minute to complete now happens in under 10 seconds!

  • Remote Software Center:
    • Fixes access to the Right Click Tools menu when right-clicking a device on the Applications tab. (Customer-Reported Bug 10636)
    • Removes non-functional device list carets on the Applications tab.
  • System Information: Restores sorting functionality for the Pending Restart, OS Install Date, and Last Boot Time columns. (Customer-Reported Bug 10771)
  • Enable/Disable Account: Fixes a failure when the username includes a dot. (Customer-Reported Bug 9230)
  • Content Distribution Monitor Dashboard: Fixes incorrect color assignments for 'In Progress' and 'Error' statuses. (Customer-Reported Bug 3466)
  • Console Dashboards: Fixes greyed out Right Click Tools menus. (Customer-Reported Bug 9029)

Privilege Manager

Client Settings: Removes ineffective Debug mode option that did not override Recast Agent logging level settings.

Recast Management Server

Agent Gateway: Fixes an issue with Agent Gateways failing to reconnect and resynchronize data upon Recast Management Server startup.

Shift Left Decommission: Recast Software will retire Shift Left on April 10th, 2024.
