Quick Query Tool
What it does:
The Quick Query Tool enhances the functionality of in-console querying with increased performance, result filters by collection, and the ability to run Right Click Tools directly on results. You can also export to excel with the headers saved, and change the query text on the fly.
How it does it:
Add explanation here.
Navigate to the Quick Query Tool by right clicking on an existing query, selecting Recast RCT > Quick Query:
When the action is run, the following dialog box will open (below). The tool will then open a new window with your query information. From here, we can limit our results by collection, edit query text, or simply run the query. Running queries with this tool will return results much more quickly than the standard console, and supports larger queries without crashing:
After running a query with the Run Query button, users can run right click tools against single objects, or by multi-selecting with Ctrl+click or Shift+click. Query results can be sorted by column and exported to excel by using copy/paste (Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V). Modified queries can be saved (using the Save Query button) or saved as a new query (using the Save As New Query button):
The Quick Query Tool requires the following permissions:
- Requires the Query AD permission in the Active Directory plugin. Additionally, it requires the Add or Remove Account from Group permission in the Active Directory plugin if it's desired to use the Add New Direct Group or Remove from Group features of the tool.
- The Quick Query Tool requires that the user running the tool has permissions to look at the group memberships for the object in Active Directory. The user will also need permissions to modify the memberships of group objects in Active Directory if using that part of the tool. If using a Recast Server with a service account, the service account will need the permissions listed instead of the user running the tool.
